We service furnaces, boilers, central air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductless mini-splits for homeowners across Plymouth County. A visit is part cleaning, part testing, and part conversation, because the technician who spends an hour with your system will notice things you cannot see.

What a tune-up does for you
Fewer emergency calls
We find worn parts and fix them on a calm weekday instead of during a storm.
Safer heating
On gas and oil equipment, we test combustion and check for conditions that lead to carbon monoxide and other hazards.
Steadier efficiency
A clean burner, clean coils, and a clear filter let equipment run the way it was designed to.
Longer equipment life
Heating and cooling equipment lasts longer when it is kept clean and adjusted.
Warranty support
Many manufacturers want to see regular maintenance on record. Keep your service paperwork.
A second opinion on age
If your system is near the end, we will tell you early so you can plan, not scramble.
What we check on heating systems
The exact list depends on the equipment, but these are the core items for the heating side. Fall is the right time, before you need the heat every day.
Furnace and boiler tune-up
- Inspect and clean the burner, flame sensor, and ignition parts
- Test combustion and check for proper flue draft and venting
- Check the heat exchanger or boiler sections for cracks, corrosion, or leaks
- Examine the blower, belts, and motors, and lubricate where needed
- Test safety controls, limit switches, and pressure or temperature relief valves
- Check the thermostat and its calibration
- Replace or check the filter, and on oil systems, the nozzle and oil filter
- On boilers, check water pressure, the expansion tank, circulators, and zone valves
- Test carbon monoxide readings around the equipment
What we check on cooling systems
The best time for cooling maintenance is spring, before the first warm week. Salt air and pollen are hard on outdoor units in this area, so we pay attention to the coil.
Air conditioner and heat pump tune-up
- Clean the outdoor coil and check the fan and motor
- Inspect the indoor coil and the condensate drain, and clear or treat the drain line
- Check refrigerant pressures and temperatures against specifications
- Test capacitors, contactors, and electrical connections
- Measure airflow and temperature drop across the coil
- Inspect ductwork connections for leaks you can see
- Replace or clean the filter and confirm the thermostat settings
- For mini-splits, clean the indoor unit filters and check the drain
How often to schedule maintenance
| System | Best timing | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Furnace or boiler | Early fall | Do it before the first cold stretch, ideally by October |
| Central AC or heat pump | Spring | Before the first heat wave, and on a heat pump again in fall |
| Ductless mini-split | Spring and fall | Filters often need cleaning more than once a year |
| Oil systems | Once a year at minimum | Burner service and nozzle replacement are part of the visit |
| Systems that run hard or are older | Twice a year | Heavier use means more wear |
Our seasonal checklist for New England homes lists what you can do yourself between visits, such as changing filters and keeping outdoor units clear.

Maintenance and Tune-Ups: common questions
Is a tune-up really necessary if my system works?
Yes. Many problems are invisible until they cause a failure. A tune-up finds worn parts, combustion problems, and safety issues while they are still small.
How long does a tune-up take?
Plan for roughly an hour for a single system, and longer if you have several or a boiler with multiple zones.
What should I do before the technician arrives?
Clear a path to the equipment, note any problems you have noticed, and have the last service record handy if you have one.
Do you offer a maintenance plan?
Ask us about service plans that cover regular visits for your heating and cooling equipment. We will explain what is included.
Can I replace my own filter?
Yes, and you should. Filters are usually easy to change. We show you where yours is and what size to buy during the visit.
Do tune-ups find problems you then try to sell me?
We report what we find, tell you what is urgent and what can wait, and let you decide. Nothing gets done without your say.
